Education
Early Childhood Education (ECE)
Tahaddi provides a three-year preschool education program for over 60 children aged 3-5, preparing them for integration into public schools. Children develop social, motor, and communication skills in a bilingual English and Arabic setting. They focus on fine and gross motor skills, along with auditory and visual memory exercises, to build autonomy and foundational skills in writing, reading, and math. After completing the program, Tahaddi social workers help families register their children in nearby public schools and encourage participation in Tahaddi’s Homework Support Program.
The “Best Step” Program
This special education stream accommodates six children annually, offering workshops that include sensory activities, motor exercises, autonomy development, and cognitive skills. An Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is developed for each child. Tahaddi’s team of educators, speech, and psychomotor therapists work closely with parents to support their children’s learning and growth.
Non-formal Primary Education
The Tahaddi Education Center (TEC) offers non-formal primary education to over 350 out-of-school children, many of whom have missed years of schooling or dropped out of school. Tailor-made programs address different levels of educational achievement, combining academic subjects such as Math, Arabic, English and Science with extracurricular activities and life skills. A team of educators, social workers, and mental health, speech, and psychomotor therapists holistically addresses student needs in the classroom and at home.
The Homework Support Program
Tahaddi’s Homework Support Program provides essential learning assistance to over 120 children enrolled in public schools, offering tutoring in English, Arabic, Math, and Science. The program is facilitated by 15 dedicated Tahaddi educators, along with committed volunteers, who support children before or after school hours. For many, this program is their primary opportunity for consistent learning, especially given the frequent disruptions in public schooling across the country. The program fosters academic growth and helps students stay on track with their education.
The “ILearn@Home” Program
Launched in 2019, the “ILearn@Home” program was designed to reach more out-of-school children. Mothers from the community are trained as tutors to teach basic Arabic and Math skills, conducting lessons at their homes. These tutors receive weekly training from Tahaddi’s education coordinators, equipping them to deliver engaging and interactive lessons. The program not only provides vital educational support to children but also offers the mothers new skills and a source of income, empowering them within their community.
The Youth Transition Program
Following the principle of “Leave No One Behind,” Tahaddi developed the Youth Transition Program (YTP and YTP+) to address the challenges faced by youth aged 14-18 in the community, particularly those with limited schooling, extreme poverty, and complex legal or social statuses. YTP’s first phase (ages 14-16) includes academic training, career guidance, community service, and psychosocial support. The second phase (ages 16-18) emphasizes soft skills, vocational training (including on-site courses in sewing, carpentry, and makeup), and coaching, fostering both personal growth and job readiness.
The Adult Empowerment Program
The TEC fosters growth and empowerment for individuals of all ages. Tahaddi’s Adult Learning Program offers basic and advanced sewing courses, as well as Arabic language classes. The program currently supports 25 women, helping them develop valuable skills that contribute to their personal and professional growth.
